Orange Tart

orange tart

Orange tart with three layers, pastry cream, orange cream and whipped cream.

Ingredients:

dough recipe:

  • Two cups of plain flour
  • cup of oil
  • Two tablespoons of sugar
  • One teaspoon of vanilla
  • Cool water
  • One teaspoon of baking powder
Pastry cream:
  • One egg yolk
  • Two tablespoons of sugar
  • 400 ml of milk
  • Two tablespoons of corn flour
  • 50 g of vanilla flan powder

Orange cream:

  • 500 ml of orange juice
  • Two tablespoons of sugar + two tablespoons of corn flour +one teaspoon of orange extract.

Preparation:

First step :

preheat oven to 180 C.

In a bowl combine flour with sugar, vanilla, baking powder and oil, rub the mixture with your fingers.

Add water gradually to make a smooth pliable dough.

Wrap in cling film and let it in the fridge for 30 minutes.

After 30 minutes, roll out the dough and lay it inside a tart pan with a removable bottom.

Note: use the film or baking paper to roll the dough so that I won’t stick.

Press the dough with your hands, also the edges of the sides of the pan.

Bake for 30 minutes or more ( it depends on your oven)until the tart become golden in color.

Second step: pastry cream

PASTRY CREAM INGREDIENTS

In a bowl whisk the egg yolk with sugar; add two tablespoons of corn flour and mix.

In a saucepan add the 50 g of vanilla flan powder to 400 ml of milk stir and pour the mixture of the egg yolk on this one and combine well.

Put this mixture in a medium flame and stir constantly until thickness.

Pour this mixture into the cooled tart.

Third step: orange cream

ORANGE CREAM INGREDIENTS

In a saucepan pour the orange juice add to it two tablespoons of sugar with two tablespoons of corn flour mix well.

Put this mixture in a medium heat whisk continuously until the mixture begins to bubble and become thick.

 

Note: you have to whisk constantly on the pastry cream or in orange cream otherwise the cream will stick on the bottom of the saucepan.

Pour this orange cream into the pastry cream.

put the tart in the fridge for one hour.

Finally, decorate the tart with whipped cream orange zest and slices.

After you decorate put it again in the fridge for 7 hours at least to serve it!
